Congratulations to South Curly cadet Bodhi Spijker who won the U14 boys event at the SLSNB Branch Surfboard Riding Championships on Sunday 22 May. Hosted by Avalon SLSC and held in challenging four to six foot surf, Bodhi secured the gold medal with a strong ride on a wave caught with less than 20 seconds to go, having just sprinted back up the beach and jumped off the rocks to avoid a lengthy and time-consuming paddle. Bodhi’s win qualifies him to represent South Curly at the NSW Titles to be held at Soldiers Beach in August, and we wish him all the best at State.
