For returning members, the process depends on when you gained your Bronze Medallion and when you were last proficient.
The SLS NSW ‘In Depth Proficiency Process Chart’ explains what is required – https://www.surflifesaving.com.au/downloads/depth-proficiency-process-chart-0
In short this really depends on whether you hold the VET (Vocational Education and Training) Cert II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) PUA2012 qualification as well as your Bronze Medallion.
- If not, then you will need to complete a Bronze Medallion assessment run by the Sydney Northern Beaches Branch. Returning members in this position join a Bronze Course to cover the training gaps and connect with other club members.
- If you do hold the Cert II, then it is possible to complete an in depth proficiency at the club rather than attend a full assessment. This depends on the gap involved and trainer availability.
Returning Members are not permitted to patrol until both their membership and awards are current.
