 Cadet Development Weekend

Friday 30th Nov – Sunday 2nd December 2017

U13 – U17s TRIP AWAY…………………Treachery Camp (Seal Rocks)

For the past 9 years at South Curly, the club has organised a long weekend away for our 13-17 yr old members (incl. U13/U14 nippers).

The purpose of the trip is to recognise the graduation of these juniors from nippers to the senior club and for most it is reward for many years of South Curly nippers. The weekend away gives them access to senior club equipment at a relatively sheltered beach so they can progress onto larger rescue equipment with confidence. It also allows the younger members an opportunity to get to know the other cadets and juniors in the club and vice-versa.

This year’s trip will be up to Treachery Camp at Seal Rocks. Located at the lower end of the Mid North Coast, the drive time is about 3.5 hours from Curly.  Although Treachery is itself a renowned surfing spot, there’s an array of different beaches around the Seal Rocks area where protection can be sought from the prevailing wind/swell if required. For more information on the location visit: https://www.treacherycamp.com.au/

We have booked the Beach Lodge at Treachery, which is a great big bunkhouse that accommodates up to 44 people in twelve separate bedrooms (10 bedrooms with two bunks/4 single beds, and two bedrooms with queen beds). In the middle of the complex is a large common room with fully equipped kitchen, large dining table, lounge, large deck with outdoor settings, BBQ and fire pit for our exclusive use. The amenities block is close by, including laundry facilities. We are required to bring all linen except pillows and pillowslips which are provided.

We will be allocating bedrooms/bunks as confirmation of attendance is received via payment of a $50 deposit per family. Rooms will be divided by age and gender or can be taken by a family group. Each child attending is required to be accompanied by a supervising adult. We would prefer to see no more than 2 or 3 children per adult attending the trip to ensure adequate supervision can be provided. PLEASE NOTE that spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

This year’s cost is TBC but as a guide, last year was $100 per person which covers food and accommodation for the two nights (Fri 30th Nov & Sat 1st December).

We expect to be able to cover transport for all the kids among the parents who are attending, and we will hopefully have the Bally Boys 20-seater minibus once again departing from South Curly surf club on the Friday morning for any kids who would like to come up early with their parent/guardian joining us on the Friday night.

If you would like to come along, please send me an email attaching a payment receipt for the $50 deposit (via SLS payment gateway https://southcurlcurlslsc.org/payment/) to reserve your place.
