100 Year Book

The 100 Year Book containing wonderful stories from the people and events that make up our proud history, can be purchased from the club.  Simply make your payment ($40) via the payment link – select ‘Merchandise’ and insert ‘100 Year Book <Your Name>’ in the description, make sure you fill in your contact details and then wait for us to email you the collection details.  If you’d like the book to be mailed to you, please contact mail@southcurlcurlslsc.org before paying so that we can advise mailing costs.

Hall Hire

Situated right on South Curl Curl beach, the Club hall and spacious private outdoor balcony are available for hire for private functions.

We offer a unique venue with unsurpassed views for weddings, conferences, business meetings, fundraisers, parties or other similar functions.

Please note: As a general rule, the Club is not available for 18th or 21st birthday functions (or similar).

  • Stunning panoramic views of entire Curl Curl beach.
  • Capacity for up to 120 people.
  • Stylish wooden bar leaners and stools.
  • Flat-screen televisions with HDMI links.
  • Sound system with iPod / mP3 connection.

Kitchen Facilities

  • Kitchen facilities available for the duration of your function.
  • We can provide contacts for commercial caterers or you can engage one of your choice or self-cater, at your own discretion.
  • Large Ovens (2), gas stove top (1), commercial dishwashers (2), hot water zip (portable), 1 double fridge, microwaves (2), 2 sinks & plenty of bench space & storage space.
  • NO Crockery, Cutlery, linen or kitchen equipment is provided.

Bar

  • The club has a large bar servery area that you are welcome to use.
  • Large under-bar fridge (1) is available for your use.
  • You are welcome to supply drinks to your guests for free or for your guests to BYO drinks.
  • NO Glassware or bar equipment is provided.
  • Please note: If you intend to sell alcohol during your function or operate a cash bar, you will need to arrange a special licence for the function yourself.

Balcony

  • Large, private, outdoor balcony adjoining the hall.
  • BBQ facilities available for the duration of your function.
  • A number of plastic trestle tables and black plastic chairs available for use (these can also be used inside).
  • NO BBQ utensils are provided.

Bronze Medallion

Course:

Bronze Medallion (PUA21012 Certificate II in Public Safety – Aquatic Rescue)

 

Overview (Learning Outcomes):

The aim of the Bronze Medallion course is to provide participants with the skills and knowledge of basic patrolling and surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. Candidates must be a minimum of 15 years old on the date of final assessment. This is the core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia.

  • Defibrillation and Basic Oxygen

Course Duration:

  • Spring & Summer Squads = approx. 8-9 weeks (depending on capability)
  • Fast Track Squads = approx. 3-4 weeks (depending on capability)

 

Course Details:

Spring & Summer Squads:

Start: Date TBC

  • 2 x Sessions per week –
  • Dry: Thursday – Start: 19:00 – Finish: 20:30 @ Club hall
  • Wet: Saturday – Start: 9:30 – Finish: 11:30 @ beach & water (conditions permitting)

 

Fast Track Squad:

Start: Mid Oct – 3-4 Weeks duration

  • 4 x Sessions per week –
  • Dry: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday – Start: 18:00 – Finish: 19:30 @ Club Hall
  • Wet: Sunday mornings – Start: 9:00 – Finish: 11:00 @ Beach & Water (conditions permitting)

 

Time Commitment:

8-10 hours per week

 

Pre-requisites:

  • Candidates must be 15 years old (on the date of the final assessment) 
  • Candidates must complete the following requirement
  • Swim 400 meters in 9 minutes (or less) in swimming pool no less than 25 metres, (or over a measured open water course on flat water)
  • This requirement must be fulfilled prior to commencing any training

Assessment:

Candidates will be required to demonstrate competency in all elements in the workplace. They will be required to complete activities that may include oral and written questioning, practical demonstrations of skills and performing scenarios.

 

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

If you believe you already possess some or all of the skills and knowledge of this course, you may wish to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Proficiency:

For this award to remain current candidates must perform an annual proficiency check. It is recommended that this annual proficiency check be completed by 31st December of each year
